Makayla's Cast is Off!

Makayla got her cast off yesterday! We are so excited! The Dr. who looked at her x-ray said that it is healing well and will continue to heal over the next couple months. When we got home she took some wobbly steps and has been improving since. It may take a little while until her walking is more normal but she was learning to walk before it happened anyway so she has that development on top of it. I think she is enjoying the increased mobility even though the cast never stopped her. This will be nice for her now that it's getting nicer outside for her to play and for her to get better before our Arizona trip.

Getting Ready for Easter

The kids are learning about why we celebrate Easter - the sacrifice Christ made by dying on the cross for our sins and His resurrection three days later so we could have new life in Him.

For fun we colored Easter eggs and will have dinner at Joanne's brother Kevin's house on Sunday. We pray you enjoy the hope you have in Christ this Easter and trust Him for a new life that only He can provide. Happy Easter!

Makayla's Countdown

Makayla has lived with the cast now for 2.5 weeks and not complained once (O for the grace of God). Even though she can walk on it fine and do all the things she did before, we are counting down until she gets it off - this coming Monday! So, please pray with us that when they x-ray on Monday, it has healed perfectly and the cast can come off. Here's a picture of her donning her big casted foot and see, she's still happy!

Joanne's Birthday

My birthday has come and gone but that's OK. Ethan enjoyed it so much yesterday that he was wondering if today was still my birthday! I am now realizing that yes it is nice to celebrate my birthday but making it a special day is great for the kids too. I don't know how many happy birthdays I got from him and how many times he asked me if I enjoyed their card. Having his favorite cake and getting a balloon just added to the excitement!

Updates for All

Many have been asking how Makayla is handling the adjustment to the cast. Thank you all for your prayers - God has given us much grace! She is trying to do all the things she normally does (she just looks a little awkward moving around). She hasn't complained a bit, and actually has been a little more content than normal. We have less than two weeks to go until she gets it off...just in time for playing outside more!

Makayla has also been working on the next level in her language - putting 2 words together for a thought (i.e. Dada work, Johnnie home...). It is so fun to hear what she thinks about!

Ethan made huge leaps in his potty training!!!! Over the last couple weeks he has done everything completely on the potty (except for a couple mistakes and we haven't started training at nighttime yet). We are so proud of his progress but mainly because he is taking care of himself (in that area)!

Joanne is 15 weeks into the pregnancy now and has been feeling slightly better. I think the nausea is almost gone so we can hope!

Kert has been busy at work. Hopefully things get back to a normal pace soon.

Vacation Dreams

I've been longing for a vacation for a while now...especially after such a long 1st trimester in my pregnancy.

We have a trip planned for early May to see my Mom and Terry in Phoenix, AZ (they live close to there). We are looking forward to seeing them, sunshine, warm days and hopefully many fun excursions! Starting the countdown!.....
